Mineral Man

This is Mineral Man, my latest character design for Joel Fajnor's Nickelodeon design class. For this assignment, we had to come up with a character made of minerals that was the exact opposite of our last character. So, veggie lady has a narrow head that widens out, this character has a wide head that thins out. Veggie lady has thick arms that narrow towards the hands, this one is the reverse. Big eyes instead of small eyes, thin instead of fat, male instead of female, etc, etc. Let me know what you think!

Veggie Lady 2

Here's another reverse view of the Veggie Lady from my Nickelodeon character design class.

Pig Banker

This was a little character design exercise suggested by Dee Chavez, a friend and co-worker at Neopets. You can see other people's take on this subject at my other blog-"Clam and Cheese."

Veggie Lady

This is a project done for a character design class I'm taking at Nickelodeon Studios, taught by ace designer Joel Fajnor. The assignment was to come up with a vegetable character, but not any one specific vegetable. Let me know what you think!

Say Cheese!

For some reason, I love the tacky, soft focus, Olan Mills-style mall photography. This is my tribute...hope you like it!

The Greatest Film Ever

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween. This year, instead of a going to a scary movie (Saw V? No thanks) I went to a see a flick called Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky
If you haven't seen this movie yet, and you're a fan of kung fu/horror/action comedy, you owe it to yourself to seek out this hidden gem. One of the most violently hilarious, over the top movies I've ever seen (watch out for those exploding heads!)Hope you like the pic!

It's Always Sunny...

Hey gang-here's something I've been meaning to post for a while. I am a huge fan of the show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", and thought I would do some cartoons of the main cast. Some of these work better than others, but I thought they were worth posting. Hope you like em!

Blue Sketches

So, I guess I've entered my blue period today. Actually, these are *gasp!* actual painted sketches. Not painted in Photoshop, but actual paint. I haven't painted anything traditionally in forever, and just wanted some warm up sketches. These came out pretty well I thought for about 10-15 min each. The little creature on the bottom is the love child of Yoda and Gollum, I guess. Try to scrub the image of that coupling out of your mind.

"You should see the other guy..."

Ahh, Fargo. One of the most quotable, endlessly entertaining movies ever made. Hope you dig the drawing!

Indiana Jones and Quest for a Good Script

Just doodling while staring at the poster for the latest Indy movie poster. Why does Cate Blanchett look like a demented Edna Mode from the Incredibles? Who knows?

Tourette's Guy

This is very special shout out to Danny, the patron saint of the Internet. RIP??

Ordinary People

Today's movie sketch is inspired by the family drama, "Ordinary People". While probably best known today for beating Raging Bull to the Best Picture Oscar, the film holds up remarkably well. Excellent performances from the whole cast, and a beautifully bittersweet ending. Set the template for many, many, many family in crisis dramas. As for the picture, I really wanted something a little more subtle. Hope you like it.

Hancock

Hey guys! Today's movie picture is Hancock, which I saw earlier this week. Wow. What a failed execution of a potentially great concept. Oh well, at least it wasn't as bad as Wild Wild West. But then again, the Black Plague wasn't as bad as Wild Wild West.

War of the worlds

Hey gang--today's movie pic is War of the Worlds, the 1950's classic produced by George Pal. Cought a special anniversary screening the other day, which was fantastic, since I finally got to see it on the big screen. It still holds up remarkably well today, and I even got to meet Ann Robinson, the star of the movie. She was really nice and autographed my War of the Worlds poster.
As for the art, I wasn't really happy with how the final was looking, so I'm posting my sketch, which for some reason has a lot more energy, despite not being very polished. My first instinct was to draw the Martian death machines, but that's been done to death, so I wanted to do something a little different...hope you like it!

Marvel Masterpieces Part Deux

Here's the second half of my Marvel Masterpieces Card Series. While the prior set focused on Bubbleheads, this set featured me unable to decide on a style to draw in. :P

Marvel Masterpieces Part One

Hey Gang- in case you didn't know, I was commissioned to do a series of trading cards for Marvel/Upper Deck called Marvel Masterpieces. Here a bunch, but not all of the cards I did for them. These 'sketch cards' are hand drawn in marker right on the card itself. Literally one of a kind. And just think, someone, somewhere will discover one of my cards in their pack and exclaim, "Wow! An original piece of Marvel art by Jeff Victor! How much do you think this will go for on ebay?!"

All you have to do is dream...

Hi gang. I'm waiting on approval from Marvel to post my Marvel Masterpiece Cards, but in the meantime, I thought I would try a new blog idea. In an effort to be more inspired, I'm taking whatever movie I see in a particular week, and doing an illustration from it. This weeks movie is Dreamgirls, which I cought at the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It's a beautifully made movie and although Jennifer Hudson (deservedly) got all the attention, the entire cast is first rate.

Freelance O-Rama

Hey gang--here are some illustrations done for East West DVD, and commissioned by Karswell, purveyor of the coolest horror comic website ever. It's called The Horrors of It All, and if you aren't yet a fan, check it out here.

Green Lantern

I've always loved the simplicity of the Green Lantern costumes, so I tried to achieve that without it looking like I'm ripping off Bruce Timm. (too much :P) Hope you like it!

The Dark Knight

I'm so excited to see The Dark Knight this weekend, I can barely contain myself. I only hope it will be as good as 1997's Batman and Robin.

HAHAHAHAHAH

Hi gang--to the 4 people who still check my blog on a semi-regular basis, I'm so sorry I haven't updated in a while. Things have been really hectic here. I'm working on a new "mystery" project at work, and I was just awarded the chance to do 50 sketch cards for a series of Marvel Masterpiece trading cards, which I will post here as soon as they are approved by Marvel Licencing. Sooo...Here's a new pic, inspired by my rabid anticipation of the Dark Knight. It's not Heath Ledger, but it's my own interpretation of the Joker. Hope you like! Lots more stuff coming soon!

This is for Steve...

A shout-out to one of my favorite movies of all time-Raiders of the Lost Ark. More than any other, this horrific image was seared into my brain when I was a kid. Hope you like!

Sketch Dump

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but work has been keeping me kind of busy. While I work on some new stuff, here's some doodles from my sketchbook. To explain the star wars quickies--i was trying to see how much i could simplify star wars characters--almost like in a cut paper style. Well, enough yakkin. Back to work for me!

Trick or Treat!

I know we're not even close to Halloween, but I actually did this piece for an art show held last Thurs. at Nickelodeon Animation Studios. The theme of the show was "Childhood Memories".

King George

I have a love/hate relationship with this guy. While it's no secret that I adore the first 2 star wars movies, and most of the third, I don't think he's made a single good decision since 1983. But hey, that's just me. If you disagree, post a comment...

Breathless

Here's a movie I really admire. How can you not enjoy the adorable Jean Seberg? Kinda borrowed a little Bruce Timm for this one, but for some reason it worked for the characters.

Glowy Thing

I have absolutely no idea what this is. If you can come up with something good, let me know and I'll send you a free box of nothing.

Putting on the Ritz

OK, here's a doodle I'm a little bit more proud of. It's Dr. F with his new creation. God, I love drawing mad scientists. I think I might need help. Hope you like.

I am your father

I was debating whether or not I should even post this. It's pretty bad fan art, I know, but come on--it's the best part of the best Star Wars movie. So, up it goes, I guess.

Milkshake!

Hey guys, quick doodle of my man, newly minted oscar winner D.D.L sucking down a delicious frosty milkshake. I wanted to draw a cute little H.W., but I didn't have time.
