30 Day Movie Challenge Day 17- Movie Duo

"How the fuck do you split a fuckin' car, ya dummy? With a fuckin' chainsaw?" One of my favorite movie duos has to be Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare from Fargo. These guys are so much fun to draw. :)

Why, hello there!

One of those drawings where I just sit in front of my computer without an idea and just start sketching, not sure what will come out. Most times I just chuck these right in the trash, but I like this little fish(?) thing.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 16- 70's movie

I don't know if any of you have seen this movie, but it is one of my all time favorites. Aguirre, The Wrath of God is a 1972 film directed by Werner Herzog, about a group of explorers searching for treasure in South America, while their leader goes slowly insane. In this illustration, I tried to show the jungle reaching out to ensnare Aguirre, as he loses what's left of his sanity. The style of this piece is a little different from what I usually do, but doing these movie challenges allows me to try different styles and approaches on a case by case basis.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 15- Funniest Movie

This was a tough one. There are so many hilarious movies, how do you just choose one? I went with an all time classic: Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That cute bunny is one vicious SOB.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 14- Movie Vehicle

As my last few movie challenges have been pretty morose, I decided to lighten it up a bit. For my movie vehicle, I chose the iconic AT-AT from Empire Strikes Back. I thought it would be funny to see a scene on Hoth after the Rebel defeat, when the Imperial forces were toasting their victory.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 13: Foreign Language Film

For today's challenge, I chose Umberto D, one of my favorite movies, made by Vittorio De Sica in Italy in 1952. This is one of the most heartbreaking movies I've ever seen, dramatizing an old man's struggle to just survive in the turmoil of post war Italy. It's well worth watching if you fancy a good tearjerker.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 12: 60's Movie

For my 60's movie, I chose one of my all time favorite thrillers, Psycho. I first saw this movie in my high school film class, where we dissected the shower scene shot for shot. It's one of those movies that you enjoy more and more each time you watch it. The challenge for this illustration was I wanted to create a visually striking almost movie poster/book cover type illustration. One sketch I liked was a literal coffin shaped shower (seen below), but I tried to get the same effect using a square tub.

30 Day Movie Challenge Day 11: Movie recast with cats

You guys didn't think I could do a 30 day drawing challenge and NOT do a Back to the Future themed piece did you?  I call it Cat to the Future.  Lol, who wouldn't love to see the adventures of Meowrti McFly?

Hipster sketches

I don't know what it is, but I find drawing hipsters strangely soothing.

Hey guys, sorry I had to take a short break from my movie challenges. I had a bunch of freelance work and gallery work I had to do. Here's a piece that will be displayed at New York's Bottleneck Gallery this weekend. The show is called "I Love You Man", celebrating cinema's greatest "bromances". Explorers was one of my favorite movies of the 80's. Well, the first 1/2 anyway. The second half I enjoyed for the crazy makeup and alien effects, but the human characters kind of got lost in the mayhem. The early scenes where they discover this amazing force field technology is by far the most interesting part of the film, so I chose to depict that in my illustration.
